Stem cells are defined as "an undifferentiated cell of a multicellular organism that is capable of giving rise to indefinitely more cells of the same type, and from which certain other kinds of cell arise by differentiation." Stem cells are cells that function for a specific function that is identical to the function it is supposed to be given.

In this article, we see that a scientist in Japan, by the name of Haruko Obokata that had claimed that she found a discovery of a very simple way of creating stem cells. The Institute she was at gave her three months to recreate what she did and she failed. If it was not to fail, it would have been a great contribution to science and would have helped many people. She stepped down on Friday, (December 19, 2014) and said it she was perplexed that she could not verify her research.
Some pros of stem cells are that they are able to give us insight at how diseases occur and can also can benefit many diseases including diabetes and Parkinson disease. Some cons are that many people believe that the way stem cells are created are what many people believe that they are unethical such as embryonic with takes cells promo an embryo that many say could turn in to a fetus if placed in a uterus. I believe that we should use it, because it does help many people with certain diseases however depending on how they get the stem cells.
